Leaf Blower and Trapp Marathon - Fall Events in Stowe, VT

Fall in Vermont is the best time for outdoor activities.  There are 2 great, fun events coming up in Stowe, the first two weekends in October.  On Saturday, October 6th,  Stowe Trails Partnership (formerly Stowe Mountain Bike Club) will co-host the Leaf Blower Mountain Bike Festival, with MTBVT.  This is an all day mountain bike celebration including group rides for all ages and abilities, vendors, home grown food, and local craft libations.  This year the event will be staged out of Ranch Camp on the Mountain Road, where rides will disburse all over town.  For more information about this popular annual event you can go here.

On Saturday, October 13th, Trapp Family Lodge will be hosting a fun marathon, and half marathon trail run on their trail system.  This challenging event will cover their network, taking you on some of the most beautiful trails around.  For more information on this annual event you can visit Trapp’s website:

These are two great recreational opportunities where fall foliage viewing is likely to be at its best.  Also, a place and time to connect with friends and community, and celebrate this gorgeous season, upcoming.

Nordic Skiing in Stowe - The Best in the East!

Stowe has some of the best cross country skiing in the east.  Since 1968, when the Trapp Family Lodge opened the first nordic center in the U.S., cross country skiing has increased in popularity.  An amazing fitness alternative or additional activity to downhill skiing and riding, there is a long list of places you can go.  Whether it's a quick, easy, cruise on the rec path, or a day's outing in the back country, Stowe Nordic's ongoing efforts to enhance the skiing opportunities in town, have created options for everyone.

Check out the Ski Guide on their website to find out where you can go, and what the offerings in the area are.  It is a wide variety, ranging from 40 km of trails at the Trapp Family Lodge; to Edson Hill, Sterling Valley, or the Mayo Farm loop, which is groomed by Stowe Nordic.

Stowe Nordic is reviving 2 iconic Stowe backcountry events.  Both will be low key tours over parts of the Catamount trail.  Both tours will depart from the Trapp Family Lodge Outdoor Center on February 11, at 9:00 a.m., with a bus ride to the start and will end back at Trapps where there will be a party afterwards.

So, let it snow, and enjoy the trails, right in our backyard!

B3 Weekend in Stowe, Coming Soon!

Critical Mass Ride from Park St., 2015

The 3rd annual B3 mountain bike festival is happening the weekend of June 10.  And, it starts with a kick-off party on Park St., Friday evening, at 5:00 p.m.  Last year the 1st annual kick-off party included tastings from The Alchemist, von Trapp Brewing, Idletyme, Stowe Cider, Mansfield Dairy, Sage Farm Goat Dairy, and more.  This year's block party will be much the same, with live music, and new additions such as balloons for kids, and kid munchies!  The Critical Mass Ride, which everyone is looking forward to again, departs afterwards.  It's a group ride that will depart from Park Street, around 6:30 p.m., and goes up the Mt. Rd. to Piecasso.  All ages are invited, and costumes are encouraged.   After the ride, there will be restaurant, brew, and cider specials; along with bike giveaways.  Throughout the weekend there will be group rides for all abilities.  And on Sunday, there will be a host of group rides at Trapp Family Lodge Outdoor Center - all family friendly - and a cookout to follow!
