It was ten years ago this Spring that my husband and I decided to move to Stowe. Having spent a few years on the west coast in Marin County, California and then the south shore of Boston in Duxbury, Massachusetts we decided it was time to settle into a community where we wanted to raise our children. To us, it was all about finding a place that reflected our lifestyle in a community which shared our love of the outdoors. We arrived in Stowe in mid-January and looked at 3 or 4 homes and settled on one in the village (a serious fixer upper but has grown to be a labor of love.) Within just a few days of moving in we began meeting friendly faces at the local market and the community playgroups. We were in awe of the friendliness and it soon became clear to me that people choose to move to Stowe because this is not your average town. People share a passion for the environment, and are committed to fostering a community with amazing schools and an abundance of cultural opportunities. When you ask people what did you do today? you are expecting a response that would typically involve something activeskiing, hiking, biking, or all three. Stowe is a special place that I feel so privileged to have the opportunity to raise my children here. I enjoy sharing my wonderful experience with others who are considering making the move or investing in a second home in Stowe. Stowe is a community that offers something for almost everyone, whether you are nearing retirement, a first time home buyer, or somewhere in between, if you think you might enjoy a community based mountain town, you should consider Stowe.
